BlipBox PCBs On Order

BlipBox v6 boards

BlipBox v6 boards

I’ve updated the boards and put an order in for 15. The lead time is 15 working days, so they will take a little over 3 weeks to arrive.

If you would like one then let me know, the price will be around £15 for the bare PCB. I will try to put together a kit with the PCB, ICs, sockets, headers, LED units and touch screen – basically all you need to build your own.

I’m also working on producing some very nice, custom machined alu cases, but more on that later.

    That’s great!

We still don’t have an order system but it will be coming… soon.

What we do have is more information about the forthcoming kits:

If there is anything you would like to see done differently, regarding the contents of the kits for example, then do let us know!

Really like to get my hands on a complete kit. Any idea when the order process will be ready? Count me in for sure on a kit. I’m here in the US.

I’m hoping to have some kits ready to ship sometime next week. The ‘order process’ is likely to be very manual to start with.
Anyone interested pls post a comment here and I will contact you when it’s ready.

    still interested!

though I got a bit scared by your rather nice kit information:

Some confidence soldering SMT components is highly recommended for builders of this kit!

Hmm… I don’t know what SMT stands for… Super Magic Technology?

    I have soldered stuff before…

…but most of my experience is from about a quarter of century ago.

Have there been any changes I should know about? 🙂

oh well you know I’ll sue you and the horse you rode in on if the blipping box doesn’t blip! 😉

      Yes, good news!

      I’ve received the PCB’s –
I will solder up a board tonight, hopefully, to make sure it all works.

      I will then be able to send out bare-bones kits to those who want it;
no enclosure or extras at this point.

Those who have left a message here will get an email from me at the latest tomorrow. Payment for this round will be by paypal only, I hope that’s okay.

I’m working on fixing a couple of issues with the new boards, so unfortunately there will be a few more days’ delay… Sorry…
I sent an email to ppl who’ve commented on this blog (dated May 20th, subject BlipBox), if you’ve not received it then it’s probably in your spam bin.
Please reply to the personal email or post a comment here if you are interested in getting hold of a kit or ready made box.

Did you ever get the issues worked out?

      • 16. marser  |  June 9, 2009 at 5:05 pm

I’m working on it, but have been sidetracked by a surf trip and will take a bit longer than planned, probably another 2-3 weeks.
I’m very sorry about the long wait… In the meantime pls subscribe to the mailing lists so that I have a way to contact you.
Btw linuxbarrista, I sent you an email, did it land in the spam can?

I am very excited about building a blipbox. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.

What is the status of this project?

I will take two as soon as they are available, please advise!

    cheers,

Status: I’ve not yet managed to conclusively nail a certain LED flicker problem. Still working on it, goddarn it!

In fact I could probably do with some help, if anyone’s got the right skills – ATmega168 timers and interrupts, TLC5940, multiplexing…

Apart from that there’s good progress on other fronts, with an extension PCB which fits into the case with MIDI in/out, USB, and external power connections. Also got plans for a full featured 2in, 4out DSP sound module!

Basically I could pack up a kit for you right away, but it would come with absolutely no guarantees and would require you to get your hands dirty with both hardware, firmware and software – everything is still under development.

wow, just had a look at your vimeo : Sweet and Savory. Great stuff!

Oh and apologies to everyone for taking so looong, I know a few peeps been waiting for ages already. Sorry!
